Position: Transaction Monitoring Analyst
Reporting to: Head of Financial Crime
Location: Brighton Office, or such other place as the Company may reasonably require on a temporary or permanent basis
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, with the flexibility to provide service and availability dependent upon the operational needs of the business.
Business Accountability:The Transaction Monitoring Analyst will be responsible for managing the transaction alerts generated for all partners across the Optimus program. The position is a critical element of Optimus’s defence against money laundering, terrorist financing and fraud.
Note: In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below the job holder is required to perform such other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.
Responsibilities and principal tasks
- Monitor the transaction queues for alerts throughout the working day ensuring management is aware of outstanding alerts or any high-risk issues/incidents
- Work with your line manager to design, update or remove financial crime transaction monitoring rules within the monitoring platform
- Familiarise yourself with the transaction monitoring systems/processes and their implementation
- Review transaction monitoring alerts in line with prescribed procedures:
- Investigate the individual alerts to determine if there is a potentially suspicious transaction involved
- Follow the recommended standard investigation steps
- In addition, assess if there is anything else unusual about a transaction, mainly based on the experience of previous transactions
- Assess the relevance of the geographies to ensure customer behaviour is in line with normal activity
- Where there are grounds for suspicion or a requirement for guidance in relation to an alert, escalate to your line manager
- Create and maintain an accurate and concise record of all investigations undertaken including the rationale behind the final decision made
- Request EDD from customers in cases of potentially suspicious activity
- Any other associated duties required from time to time to help with the BAU of the team
Skills and experience
- Minimum of 1 years experience in an AML/Anti Financial Crime related role
- Proficient practical knowledge of UK Anti-Money Laundering requirements including Money Laundering Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act, Terrorism Act and JMLSG Guidance, staying abreast of regulatory changes and AML/CTF-related developments
- Payments Experience – Cards/SWIFT knowledge
- Knowledge/Experience in Mobile Financial Services
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organised with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated/positive attitude
- Ability to manage own caseload taking full responsibility for the entire investigation process from start to finish
- Must be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a high volume/tight deadline-driven environment
- Maintain and improve quality service and products by initiating and implementing new initiatives to drive the department forward
